Pompeii ruins tickets should be one of the first things to buy for anyone planning a holiday in Naples and its province, rich in historical, architectural and scenic beauty, where Vesuvius is just the tip of the iceberg of a tour that should also include the Herculaneum ruins, Sorrento, and of course all that the capital of Campania has to offer.
Did you know that the Pompeii ruins are the most visited archaeological site after the Colosseum in Rome? The reason is that the small and cosy Marian city is home to an archaeological treasure of inestimable value, the remains of an ancient civilisation destroyed by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 A.D., as extensively explained on the official site of the Pompeii Ruins.
At the end of the article, you will find a section dedicated to the hotels and B&Bs of Pompeii with offers and prices in real-time.

From Napoli Porta Nolana station or from Napoli Piazza Garibaldi, board the Circumvesuviana – EAV trains. There are two trains to Pompeii: the Sorrento and the Poggiomarino.
With the Sorrento train, you get off at Pompei Scavi station while the Poggiomarino stops at Pompei Santuario, a short walk from the town square. From here you access the second entrance to the archaeological site.
If you are not planning to visit the sanctuary or the town centre of Pompeii, we recommend taking the train to Sorrento as it passes more frequently, although it is more crowded. Train times to Pompeii can be found by clicking this link.
